Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice ... to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? ... To provide the poor wanderer with shelter ... If you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.
— Isaiah 58:6-10, NIV
Every year millions of people flee their homes because of war and persecution, and thousands of them resettle in Iowa and Missouri. We have unparalleled opportunities to serve those God has placed at our doorstep.
Through the Refugee Tuition Assistance Fund, refugee students who would not otherwise be able to attend one of our schools are able to receive a Christian education. We’re praying for 1,000 people to partner with us. Will you pledge $10 a month to make this and other refugee assistance initiatives possible?
Tuition Assistance Fund
Your gift of $10 per month (or $120 per year) can help ensure a refugee student receives a Christian education. Donations to Refugee Ministries may also provide for services such as language and citizenship classes, and more.
Into the Harvest
Having spent a year in college teaching English and science in Nepal, Anna Coridan developed a special place in her heart for the Nepali people. Her plan was to complete her education, pay off all her debt, then return to Nepal to serve full-time.
But God changed all that by making it clear to Anna that He has work for her to do right in her own backyard of Kansas City. Anna has moved into an apartment complex with several Nepali refugee families and, with help from other local church members, has started language and citizenship classes and is helping ease other burdens the Nepali people face as they resettle here in the U.S.
We need you! If you would be willing to teach language or citizenship classes, mentor, provide transportation, or help in some other way, we'd love to hear from you.
